Solving the Mystery of Missing Beneficiaries
The Unseen Challenge
When John King passed away, he left behind a revocable trust naming his cousins, Mary Mahomes and David Dixon, as beneficiaries. The estate’s executor, a close friend of John, hired a law firm to assist him. When the firm’s initial attempts to contact the beneficiaries failed, they turned to HeirSearch for help.
The Case Unfolds
The law firm explained to us their need to find Mary Mahomes and David Dixon. They had no birth dates or last known addresses for either cousin. They believed David Dixon might have been an usher at a specified church, but they couldn’t locate the church to confirm this. An address they found for David resulted in a returned letter marked “No Such Number/Unable To Forward” by the USPS.
The executor informed the firm that David and Mary might be siblings. Despite reaching out to all known family contacts, the firm couldn’t gather any useful information. At the start of our search, we received:
- A copy of John King’s Certificate of Death.
- A copy of the revocable trust identifying Mary Mahomes and David Dixon as his cousins.
Our Investigative Journey
We began by searching genealogical databases for Mary Mahomes and David Dixon. Our research confirmed they were siblings, both children of Malcom Dixon, John King’s maternal uncle. These searches also indicated the state where David Dixon had lived most of his life.
Using this information, we explored various commercial and public records databases. We found potential contact information for David and evidence that Mary had married twice and might still be alive.
Connecting the Dots
Our first attempt to reach Mary by phone was unsuccessful; there was no answer and the voicemail inbox was not set up. However, when we contacted David, we left a voicemail and he later responded. In a telephone interview, David confirmed he was John King’s maternal cousin and was unaware of John’s passing. He verified his contact information and confirmed Mary as his sister. David mentioned that Mary was unlikely to respond to unknown calls or letters but agreed to relay information to her.
Mystery Solved
We concluded our search and compiled a detailed report with the information gathered from David. The law firm was thrilled with the outcome and praised our service, stating, “Great service. Quick replies to inquiries. Perfect results.”
Our expertise and access to extensive databases enabled us to locate the named beneficiaries and provide a satisfactory resolution for our client.
